LASIK in more detail and help you determine if either procedure is right for you. LASIK patients normally get better eye acuity of 75% to 85% within 24 hours. This compares favourably against the two older surgical techniques, radial keratotomy (RK) and photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), where healing & improved vision takes weeks or months to occur. LASIK, short for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, is a type of refractive surgery that uses a laser to reshape the cornea of the eye. It is an outpatient procedure that is performed by a refractive surgeon to correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.

Laser eye surgery is relatively new and we are still in the process of determining the short- and long-term effects of this technology. Laser eye surgery is performed by cutting a small flap in the cornea so the surgeon can reshape the eye underneath. That's why it's important to avoid anything that might damage the flap as it heals. Laser eye surgery is for the people who have Myopia, Hyperopia, or Astigmatism. Myopia means nearsightedness, the ability to see objects which are nearer clearly.

LASIK surgery corrects refractive errors in the eye by reshaping the cornea. Using an excimer laser, precise amounts of corneal tissue are removed, and this changes its focusing power. LASIK is a surgical procedure that can reduce a person's dependency on glasses or contact lenses. The procedure permanently changes the shape of the cornea (the delicate clear covering on the front of the eye). LASIK surgery is a laser, used to remove tissue and to reshape the cornea.

Laser eye surgery can be a very positive experience if the many factors are thoroughly researched, understood and considered before the procedure takes place. Laser eye surgery can forever change the lives of many people in many ways. For example if it is someone who used to have 20/20 vision as a kid and as they got older developed near sidedness, to the person who was just born with bad eye sight, laser eye surgery can give them 20/20 vision most of the time. Laser eye surgery can correct hyperopia.

Generally, laser eye surgery is safe, but just like any other surgical procedure, it does involve certain risks. Although a large number of patients have been able to stop using their glasses after surgery and achieved a 20/40 vision or even better, there are still some things you should take into account before choosing a safe’s laser eye surgery.

70,000 Eye-Related Injuries On The Job Each Year Cost American Business Owners $450 Billion

March is Workplace Eye Health and Safety Awareness Month, and Eyeglass World together with The LASIK Vision Institute offers consumers and employers information and tips for reducing the number of eye-related injuries in the workplace.

People think to protect their heads with helmets or hardhats, and their clothes with smocks and aprons, but a surprisingly high percentage of people don't think to put on the proper protective eyewear in hazardous work conditions. Study Outlines Risk Of Treatment-Resistant Infection Following Facelift Surgery

About one-half percent of patients undergoing facelift surgery at one outpatient surgical center between 2001 and 2007 developed methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections, according to a report in the March/April issue oArchives of Facial Plastic Surgery, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.

MRSA is now a leading cause of infections at surgical sites and in skin and soft tissues, according to background information in the article. It is much more virulent than other forms of staph infection, spreads through tissue more rapidly, is more difficult to control and causes infections that are more expensive to treat and are associated with higher death rates.

Gonzalez stayed put with team in Japan

TOKYO -- Turns out the A's eventual starting center fielder may not have even been with the team in Tokyo.

The A's kept hotshot prospect Carlos Gonzalez on their 28-man roster during the season-opening two-game series against the Boston Red Sox at the Tokyo Dome.

Gonzalez didn't travel to Japan, instead staying in Phoenix to rehab a strained right hamstring that's kept him out of games since March 13. It was thought the A's might simply option Gonzalez to the minors, as he's just 22 and has minimal experience at the Triple-A level.

But with neither Ryan Sweeney nor Chris Denorfia having commanded the center field job with their play, the A's may thrust Gonzalez into the lineup when he's healthy.

The A's resume the regular season with two games at home against Boston next Tuesday and Wednesday.
